Add a note to a visualization tile

You can add a note to a visualization to provide additional context for the data being visualized.

Prerequisites:

The dashboard must be in edit mode.

  1. In the visualization you would like to add a note to, click Tile Actions > Add Note.
  2. In the Note Text section, type in content for the note.
Enter any information dashboard users need to know about how the visualization is calculated or displayed. You can enter the note in plain text or HTML.
  3. In the Display Location list, select from the following options:
    • Above: Text is displayed just under the visualization title, or at the top of the tile if the visualization title is hidden.
    • Below: Text is displayed at the bottom of the tile.
    • Hover: Text is displayed when you hover over an information icon, which is added next to the visualization title. The information icon is not displayed, and the note is not accessible, if the visualization title is hidden.
  4. Check this box to collapse the note by default. A collapsed note shows only the first line, with an ellipsis at the end of the line.
    Note:
    • If this box is unchecked, it displays the note's full text by default.
    • If you select Hover in the Display Location list, you will not see this option.
  5. Click Add.
Result: The note is added to the tile. Click Tile Actions > Edit Note at any time to update or delete the note.
