Add a data mapping

You can add a data mapping and map fields manually if the Apply Auto Mapping option was deselected when you created the dataset, or if you want to configure additional field mappings.

Prerequisites:

You must add at least two primary data sources to your dataset before you can add a data mapping.

You can add up to 1000 mapped fields including system fields.

  1. Click the Data Mapping tab.
  2. Click Add Mapping.
  3. In the Add Data Mapping dialog box:
    1. Enter the new field name in Mapped Field Name.
    2. Select each Data Source and Field to map.

You must select at least two data source and field combinations. You can include a field from each data source in your dataset to your data mapping.

For example, if you wanted to map a Rating field from 12 monthly surveys, your data mapping would include a row for each of the 12 surveys, with the Rating field selected for each survey.

Use the Data Source drop-down list to switch between the data sources in the dataset.

    3. Click Done.
  4. When you have configured the data mappings, you need to sync the dataset to merge the data so you can use it in crosstab reports and dashboards. To sync your dataset, see Sync a dataset.
